Join our vibrant and supportive specialist school on Auckland’s North Shore. Our base school is in Hauraki, with satellite classes in five other schools across the Shore. We cater to students with special needs aged 5–21, offering small classes of eight students, supported by a dedicated team of teachers, teacher aides, and therapists.
We are looking for a teacher who naturally embeds creativity into their daily practice and makes learning fun. As a practitioner, you will enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, all focused on supporting the learning and development of each student. Due to the geographical nature of our school, a full driving license is essential.
The successful candidate will be able to:
– Develop a love of learning.
– Create innovative approaches to delivering the curriculum.
– Relate well with students, whānau, staff, and other agencies.
– Work collaboratively to develop personalised goals and monitor achievement.
– Experience working with young people with Autism and structured learning environments is desirable.

Team Leader- Specialist School
Join our team at a vibrant specialist school on Auckland’s North Shore. With our main campus in Hauraki and satellite classes across five additional schools, we offer a nurturing environment for students with special needs, aged 5 to 21. Our small classes ensure personalised attention, each class of eight students benefiting from dedicated teachers, aides, and a therapy team. The position will commence Term 1 2026.
We’re looking for an inspirational team leader to oversee a syndicate and become an integral part of our leadership team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge about ORS students and, ideally, experience in a specialist educational setting. As a team leader, you’ll mentor and guide our teachers and teacher aides, driving forward educational and developmental outcomes.
This role blends leadership and hands-on involvement, offering release from classroom duties while also stepping in to support teaching staff as needed during CRT.
Key requirements:
- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to drive school vehicles
- Experience working in a specialist school
- Exceptional ability to forge and maintain positive relationships.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support.
- Forward-thinking and introspective approach to teaching.
- Competence in juggling multiple tasks and setting priorities.
- Strategic thinking and action planning capabilities.
- Outstanding organisational skills.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the relevant collective agreement (Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement). The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $61329 to $103086, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. The individual’s actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
